POLAR
POLAR is a web-based component for the visualisation and interaction with geospatial data.
POLAR is an open-source library specifically designed for creating map clients with a wide range of functionalities. As a product from the public sector, POLAR aims to provide an easily accessible and customisable map client for web systems of public institutions. The map client is designed as a modular component, enabling easy integration into various web applications and flexible data communication through defined interfaces. POLAR is based on a core package combined with a variety of plugins that together cover most requirements of modern geographic information systems. For generic use cases, a pre-configured client is available, which can be adapted to specific scenarios through configuration. A key feature of POLAR is its extensibility – in addition to existing plugins that cover functions such as geolocation, drawing on the map, address search, or placing pins, custom plugins can be developed and specific client code can be implemented to meet individual requirements. This modular and configurable structure makes POLAR a flexible and powerful solution for developing map clients in the public sector. Comprehensive documentation supports the adaptation and extension of the library and ensures sustainable use across various application areas.
