FROST-Server is a Server implementation of the OGC SensorThings API. The FRaunhofer Opensource SensorThings-Server is the first complete, open-source official reference implementation of the OGC SensorThings API.

The OGC SensorThings API is a standard for exchanging sensor data and sensor metadata. It allows users to describe their sensors and sensor systems, the properties that are being measured by their sensors, the relation that these measurements have to the real world and finally the measurements themselves. The API also explains how to access this data over the internet and how to search in a data set, so that only that part of the data is transferred that the user needs. The API is used in many domains where sensor data is important, ranging from smart-cities, environmental monitoring to citizen science use cases.

FROST-Server is also a generic data server that you can use to expose your data model in a flexible, standardised way.
