The A12 AI Low Code Platform is built on model-driven software engineering (MDSE), applying the low-code principle to the development of enterprise applications of all kinds — from application portals and online services to digital register solutions and complex business processes. AI capabilities can be used both within applications and for AI-assisted development (Agentic Coding); these features are available in the Enterprise Edition.

A12 is designed as an open system that enables great flexibility for the development, long-term maintenance, and evolution of custom software. Domain experts and business analysts can independently model the functional core of the software using modeling tools. The strict separation of business logic and technology allows the functional core to be preserved even across major technology transitions.

A12 has proven itself in practice as the foundation of applications that have been successfully running in production for years — including ELSTER, one of the most important digitalization projects in the German public sector IT landscape.
